The song’s intro was inspired by the fanfare used at the start of 20th Century Fox films. In 1979 Luv made a cameo appearance in the German film ‘Cola, Candy, Chocolate’ in which they sang the song. It has been widely covered by mostly Dutch, German and Scandinavian artists. The track has seen 3 remixed versions released in 2006, 2015 and 2022.

LUV (THE NETHERLANDS)

Inspired by the band Silver Convention, Dutch record producers Hans van Hemert and Piet Souer decided to form an all girl group. They recruited José Hoebee, Marga Scheife and Patty Brard and called the group Luv. Their first single, 1977’s ‘My Man’ would be a fair success, going to 11 in both The Netherlands and Belgium. However, their second single, ‘Dream Dream’, failed to chart. But they came back strong with their 3rd, ‘O.U.Me’ which got to number 3 in The Netherlands and equalled that peak in Belgium. 1978 proved their most successful year with ‘You’re The Greatest Lover’ topping the charts in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland and follow up, ‘Trojan Horse’, giving them another Netherlands and Belgian chart topper, while peaking at 3 in German and 2 in Switzerland. By 1981 they had clocked up 12 hits on the Dutch charts, but at that point Patty Brard left to forge a solo career and the hits dried up with only 3 further chart entries and a number of line up changes.
