Two of the hits by Rabin’s former band, Rabbitt would have better top 20 points totals (‘Locomotive Breath’ and ‘Charlie’) while the other 2 would not (‘Getting Thru To You’ and ‘Morning Light’). This is not the same song as the one of the same name which was a hit for Earth, Wind & Fire which charted later in 1978.
Born: 13 January 1954 Full name: Trevor Charles Rabin
Trevor was born in Johannesburg into a musical family. His mother was a painter, ballet dancer, actress and classical pianist while his father was a lawyer but was also a conductor and lead violist for the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra. Rabin would start piano lessons aged six and would later teach himself guitar. While still in his teens he formed a group called The Other and would later form The Conglomeration. He would then join Freedom’s Children for a year before reforming The Conglomeration in 1972. This would eventually morph in Rabbitt with whom he would have a number of hits. In 1977 he left the band and headed to London and then on to Los Angeles. He would forge a successful solo career and spend a good period as a member of the band Yes. His solo albums, ‘Trevor Rabin’ and ‘Can’t Look Away’, made it to 192 and 111 on the US album charts respectively. He would also go on to write a number of film soundtracks including the music for the films ‘Con Air’ and ‘Armageddon’.
