AMERICAN BREED (US)

The American Breed formed in 1958 in Illinois. They would manage 5 Billboard Hot 100 hits and the best performer there would be ‘Bend Me, Shape Me’ which would be their only SA chart hit. It would get to 5 in the US. The song would be their only UK chart hit, going to number 24. When the band broke up, a number of its members went on to join Rufus who would help launch the career of Chaka Khan. Rufus & Chaka Khan scored 10 Hot 100 hits.
