CELI BEE & THE BUZZY BUNCH (US)

Celi Bee was born Celida Ines Camacho in New York City. Her parents hailed from Puerto Rico and she moved there with them. It was there that she met Pepe Luis Soto and the 2 started making music together. Soto would write and produce Celi Bee’s hit ‘Superman’ and would also have an SA Chart hit as a member of the band The Rice And Beans Orchestra. The 2 would marry in 1960. ‘Superman’ would be Celi Bee’s only US chart hit where it got to number 41. In the UK she had 1 hit with ‘Hold Your Horses, Babe’ which got to number 72.
