Mick Jade was born in Cape Town. His first release was a single in 1970 called ‘Mama Looka’. He followed this up with his only SA chart hit in 1971, ‘Give Me More’. The following year he played in Hennie Bekker’s jazz-rock group before heading to the States to study. He would then spend some time in Canada before returning to South Africa where he formed The Jade Brothers Band and they would record the theme to the popular television series ‘The Villagers’. He would also record theme tunes for the shows ‘Spectrum’, ‘Starbound’ and ‘The Diggers’. In 1982 he released an album called ‘Time’. Sadly, he would die in 2014.
