Born: 26 July 1943
Real name: Michael Philip Jagger
Jagger was born in Dartford, a town just south east of London. As a youngster he loved to sing and joined the church choir. He went to school with Keith Richards, but his family moved away and they lost touch. Then they met by chance on the platform at Dartford Railway Station and this would be the start of what would become The Rolling Stones, one of the all time most successful acts which has seen 8 number 1’s on both sides of the Atlantic. He released his first solo single in 1972, a song called ‘Memo From Turner’, which was recorded for the film ‘Performance’ in which Jagger starred. It would get to number 32 in the UK. He has managed 12 UK hits as a solo artist or as part of a collaboration. His only number 1 outside of the Stones was with ‘Dancing In The Street’ which he performed with David Bowie. He has managed 9 US hits with a best peak of 3 which ‘State Of Shock’, his collaboration with The Jacksons, managed.
