Loggins was born in Everett, a city just north of Seattle. After leaving school he formed a band called The Second Helping and would record three punky folk-pop singles with them. He would also see some solo hits during that time seeing a number 5 hit with ‘Whenever I Call You Friend’, a duet with Stevie Nicks.  In 1979 he would help write The Doobie Brother’s hit ‘What A Fool Believes’ and soon after that saw his second top 10 hit on the US charts with ‘I’m Alright’ which was from the film ‘Caddyshack’ (starring Bill Murray) which went to number 7. He has seen 21 US Hot 100 hits (excluding the 9 with Messina) and hit the top spot with ‘Footloose’. In the UK he has only seen 2 hits with ‘Footloose’s peak of 6 being faring far better than his second hit, ‘Danger Zone’ (from the film ‘Top Gun’) which only got to 45.
