The band formed in London in 1966 and their first single, ‘She Smiled Sweetly’ which was written by Mick Jagger & Keith Richards, did nothing. However, their second single, ‘Everlasting Love’ went to the top of the UK charts. Although the song was tributed to the band, it was only the lead vocals by Steve Ellis that actually made it onto the final version with the band’s playing being replaced by tracks laid down by session musicians. The final mix also included backing vocals by Kiki Dee amongst others. They would see 4 further UK hits, but no further chart toppers. After their last hit, they continued to release further singles, but found no success with these. In 1974 they called it a day without ever seeing a US chart hit.

‘Everlasting Love’ was 1 of 8 songs that would chart for at least 3 different artists (the other 2 versions being by Rex Smith & Rachel Sweet and Sandra). ‘Love Is Blue’ would be the only one of the 8 that would see a 4thversion make the charts.
