Born: 4 November 1948
Real name: Gertrude Wirschinger
McLean was born in Klagenfurt, a city near the Austria/Solvenia border. It seems that McLean moved from Austria to Germany (hence the classification as German) where she would marry a German guy called Holger Münzer who was a composer of film music and also acted in a couple of films, although most of his film credits appear to be for obscure movies. She would also be a member of the German group Silver Convention who had UK hits with ‘Fly Robin Fly’ and ‘Get Up And Boogie’. McClean would see 5 solo hits make the German charts with ‘Lady Bump’ going to number 1. The song would also top the charts in Austria and would be her only US hit where it peaked at 48 on the Hot 100 and topped the US dance charts. She would not see any chart action in the UK. After her music career began to fade, she started writing books about spiritual and numerology matters.
