Born: 13 October 195
Full name: Olive Marie Osmond
Marie was the 8th child and only daughter born to Olive and George Osmond, and like the previous 7 kids, was born in Ogden, Ohio. Only the youngest, Jimmy, would not be born there. She would sometimes perform with her brothers (who were going under the name The Osmond Brothers) on ‘The Andy Williams Show’ but was not really otherwise involved in the music business. Then in 1973, at the prompting of her mother, she released the single ‘Paper Roses’ and had a US number 5 hit on her hands. She would go on to see 3 solo hits and 7 with her brother Donny. Her best peak came with ‘I’m Leaving It All Up To You’, a hit she recorded with Donny and which got to 4. ‘Paper Roses’ would be her only UK solo hit where it went to number 2.

Using a top 20 points basis she would rank second out of the 3 Osmond siblings who charted (Little Jimmy was 1 and Donny was 3rd). Using a top 30 points basis she would drop to 3rd place, but as all 3 of the Osmonds had their entire chart careers in the top 20 era, this is not the best measure.
