The band formed in1976 in a place called Weston-Super-Mare, a coastal town not too far from Bristol in England. They garnered a following by playing the local pub circuit and came to the attention of Mickie Most who signed them to his RAK record label. Their first single, ‘Baby It’s You’ (written by Smokie’s Chris Norman and Chris Spencer) failed to do anything, but their second, ‘Lay Your Love On Me’, went to number 3 in the UK and would top the charts in Australia and New Zealand. They would only see 4 UK chart hits, getting to a best peak of 2 with ‘Some Girls’. They would prove popular in Germany and Denmark where they managed 7 and 6 hits respectively. They would split up in 1985 but reform in 1990 for a bit. In 2021 they released a new single called ‘It’s A Glorious Day’.
