The song was originally offered to Irish showband singer Glen Curtin, but he turned it down, so it was then offered to Logan. It would go on to win the 1980 Eurovision Song Contest and was the second time the Irish entry had won. This came exactly a decade after Dana’s ‘All Kinds Of Everything’, the previous Irish winner. ‘What’s Another Year’ was the 6th of 7 winners of that contest that would chart (‘All Kinds Of Everything’ had been the 2nd) and would have the lowest top 20 points total of the 7.
