The song would sell over 2 million copies world wide and would be the second biggest single of 1984 (as ranked by Billboard Magazine) in the US, beaten by Prince’s ‘When Doves Cry’.  It would win the Grammys for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. In South Africa, it was denied the top spot by Audrey Landers‘ ‘Manuel Goodbye’. At the time of charting, Turner was the 4th oldest woman to make the SA charts. In 2020, Norwegian DJ Kygo would remix the song and that (attributed to Kygo x Tina Turner) would go to 31 in the UK and just miss out hitting the Hot 100 in the US as it reached number 1 on the Bubbling Under chart. That would be the last release for Tina Turner in her lifetime (she died in May 2023).
