The song was the follow up single to Cara’s hugely successful ‘Flashdance…What A Feeling’ which was from the film ‘Flashdance’. Joe Esposito, who does backing vocals on ‘Why Me’ would also contribute to the ‘Flashdance’ soundtrack with his song ‘Lady Lady Lady’. ‘Why Me’ was the 11th of 18 hits to chart that was produced by Giorgio Moroder. It would rank 10th out of the 18 for top 30 points.
