The song would spend 2 weeks at 2 in the band’s native Sweden, stuck behind a song called ‘One More Reggae For The Road’ by Bill Lovelady. It was the band’s 8th SA number 1, the most any act had managed to that date and it would put them 2 ahead of Tom Jones who was second with 6 chart toppers. The original demo recorded by Björn Ulvaeus used nonsense French words for lyrics before he went home and wrote the English lyrics. He has been quoted as saying that while his divorce from Agnetha Faltskog did inspire the song, the lyrics are not about their divorce as there was no winner (or loser) in their case.
