BROTHERHOOD OF MAN (UK)

The group was brought together by record producer Tony Hillier in 1969. The original line up included Tony Burrows, John Goodison, Roger Greenaway and Sunny Leslie. Burrows would feature on a number of SA charting acts such as The Ivy League, White Plains & The Pipkins. John Goodison, was Big John from Big John’s Rock ‘n Roll Circus who had a hit with ‘Rockin’ In The USA’. Greenaway would have songwriting credits on 19 hits while Sunny Leslie would have a hit with ‘Doctor’s Orders’. However, all of these people had left the band by the time they had their SA chart hits. Before making our charts, they saw a global hit in 1970 with ‘United We Stand’ which got to 10 in the UK and 13 in the US. Six years later, they hit the top spot in the UK with their Eurovision Song Contest winner ‘Save Your Kisses For Me’. It would get to 27 in the US and was the second of only 3 (at the time of writing) Eurovision winners to make the US charts (Abba’s ‘Waterloo’ was the first and Duncan Laurence’s ‘Arcade’ the third). In total Brotherhood Of Man would manage 10 UK hits and 4 US ones.
