GLENN MEDEIROS (US)

Born: 24 June 1970
Full name: Glenn Alan Medeiros

Medeiros was born in the town of Lihue on the Hawaiian island of Kaua’i and is of Portuguese descent. When he was 10 years old, he started singing on his father’s tour bus to entertain the tourists. His big break came when he won a local radio show talent contest singing a version of ‘Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love For You’. The song was written by Michael Masser and Gerry Goffin and originally recorded by George Benson for his 1985 ‘20/20’ album. Medeiros recorded an album including the song which was released on a small local record label. It happened to be heard by a visiting radio exec from Phoenix who took a copy back to Phoenix with him and from there it gradually grew into a US hit (#12) and ultimately a global hit, going to the top of the charts in the UK, France, The Netherlands and Ireland. Medeiros would see 6 further US hits, hitting the top spot again with 1990’s ‘She Ain’t Worth It’, a duet he recorded with Bobby Brown. He has 2 children, a boy named Chord and a girl named Lyric.
