The song started life as a jingle for McVities biscuits in the UK with session musicians handling the vocals. The session musicians included Tony Burrows who had provided vocals for a number of acts including Edison Lighthouse, White Plains and The Pipkins. Guys & Dolls were formed to cash in on the success of the jingle, but the new group was not ready in time to record a version of the song for a single, so the original session singers’ voices were left on the track. In 2002, an Irish group called Six would record a cover and they saw their version get to the top of the Irish charts as well as going to 6 in New Zealand, 3 In Norway and 45 in Sweden.
