The song was written for the film ‘Electric Dreams’. It was a directorial film debut for Steve Barron who had started out directing music videos. One of which was the video for the Human League’s ‘Don’t You Want Me’ and it was this connection that led Barron to ask the Human League’s lead singer, Philip Oakey, to collaborate with Giorgio Moroder on the song. Oakey and Moroder would then collaborate on a full album of songs which would include ‘Together In Electric Dream’ and would produce 2 further UK charting hits in the form of ‘Good Times Bad Times’ (#44) and ‘Be My Lover Now’ (#91).
