The song was a cover of a Bill Anderson one. It does not appear that Anderson released his version as a single. It was the first of 2 hits for Anderson as a songwriter as he would pen ‘Sometimes’ which was an SA hit for Caroline du Preez & Tommy Dell. Anderson’s only hit as an artist was with ‘Beyond The Sunset’ which he did not write. ‘The Tips Of My Fingers’ has been recorded by numerous artists including Dean Martin, Conway Twitty and Desmond Dekker. It has also been popular with local acts as Peter Lotis, Virginia Lee and Clive Bruce have all also recorded it. Peter Vee’s version was the 7th hit to chart which noted Robert John ‘Mutt’ Lange as the producer and would rank 6th for top 20 points out of the 22 hits that Lange had a production credit on.
