Although Burnette was an American, the song would chart first in the UK before making the US charts. It would prove to be his only hit on either side of the Atlantic. Burnette’s father was Johnny Burnette who saw 5 Hot 100 hits in the early 60’s. While Johnny beat his son for number of hits, the 2 were tied for best peak as Johnny Burnette’s best showing on the Hot 100 was with his 1960 hit ‘You’re Sixteen’ which got to number 8.
