Cinquetti originally recorded the song in 1973 in Italian as ‘Alle Porte Del Sole’. The English lyrics were written by Norman Newell and both Cinquetti and Al Martino would record it as ‘To The Doors Of The Sun’. Martino’s version would get to 17 in the US as well as making it to 13 in Australia and 44 in Canada. Cinquetti’s version would rank 10th out the 17 hits by Italian acts that made the charts (top 30 points basis).
